Long Term Vision

Hidayah Muslim Youth (HMY)** is establishing and nurturing Islamic work that is efficient and forward oriented amongst all segments of Muslim youth based on the comprehensive understanding of Islam. Such work will result in Muslim youth that will clearly understand their purpose of life and will (insha'Allah) be at the forefront in the development of the North American Muslim community.

**HMY is the Islamic Society of BC's (ISBC) youth group - the youth work is merely a part of the overall organization. It is not a separate entity, nor will it take on any characteristics as such.

Breakdown of our Vision:

is establishing and nurturing?

This means that our work is all about instilling values within each of our youth. This Tarbiyah, which goes beyond teaching Islamic knowledge, is instilled through our youth leaders. The purpose of the training programs is to establish organized and efficient, forward oriented Islamic work. It is crucial that the work is efficient, i.e. resources are not wasted. Furthermore, work is to be forward oriented i.e. work that will help all Muslims move into the future.

Amongst all segments of Muslim youth

This means that all segments of the Muslim youth population will be our target and that nationalism and racism have no place in our work. To be effective in our work, it is essential that our members understand North American youth and culture.

Based on the comprehensive understanding of Islam

This means the balanced path that our Creator has chosen for us. He (swt) says in Surah Al Baqarah: Thus have We made you a just and balanced nation, that you may be witnesses over mankind, and the Messenger be a witness over you? (2:143)

At the forefront?

This means that our youth will (insha'Allah) help direct the development of the North American Muslim community by leading existing Muslim organizations and developing new Muslim initiatives and institutions. At the same time, our youth will be competent individuals that will excel in their field of expertise.

Mission Statement

To develop disciplined and committed Muslim youth, through the training programs, that have a comprehensive understanding of Islam and that are capable of spreading that understanding.

Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said, "People are like a hundred camels, you can hardly find amongst them one rahila (one capable of sustaining energy throughout a long and arduous journey)." Our Training programs are geared at producing al-Rawaahil (insha'Allah).
